When the Park is magically transformed by a blanket of snow, snowmobiling is a wonderful way to discover Yellowstone's winter wonderland. As you journey through Yellowstone in the winter, you will find yourself in nordic heaven. Over-snow vehicles accomplish theis trek into the heart of this snowy paradise of frosty bison, graceful trumpeter swans, sculpted ghost-trees, and steamy thermal pools. Winter also offers a wonderful opportunity for observing Yellowstone's wolf population in action. Or take a snowcoach tour that provides a warm passage to the Park's wintry secrets while guides reveal the various chapters of the Park's winter story.
At 8:00 a.m. on December 20th, 2006, over-the-snow Park entrances opened for access by snowmobile, snowcoach, and cross-country skiing.
